MJM Marjomotex was founded in the 1970s in Vila Nova de Famalicão by Jacinto Silva and Fátima Afonso. The company started by buying surplus fabric from local factories and transforming it into garments to sell. That instinct for resourcefulness has stayed with it ever since. Today, Mónica Afonso, daughter of the founders, runs the business from the same location in Outiz, Famalicão.
The specialisation is trousers. Since 1977, Marjomotex has been making denim and woven trousers for some of the most demanding brands in Europe. Over the decades the product range extended from pure denim to twill trousers, cargo trousers, shorts, and casualwear — jeans, joggers, and casual trousers with an elastic waist that sit between formal and sportswear. The team of 40+ employees, 95% of them women, carries decades of accumulated craft. Daughters of seamstresses who already knew the machines before they ever touched them.
We provide a full end-to-end service: fabric sourcing, sampling, production, quality control, packaging, and shipping. We also work on a CMT basis for clients who arrive with their own patterns or reference samples. Finishing includes ozone wash and laser techniques that reduce environmental impact while achieving the aged and distressed effects that premium denim brands demand. Our suppliers are selected generation after generation for quality and reliability, not lowest cost.
We hold GOTS and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certifications. Our export markets include Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Spain, with commercial presence across 15 countries. We have been recognised as SME Leader three consecutive times and SME Excellence by IAPMEI.
